Optional Feature
Cards
The basic system’s software is
designed to deliver all of the
common features you expect from a
Panasonic System. However, some
features require optional hardware
interfaces to allow connectivity to
external devices. There are three
optional feature cards that can be
installed in the basic control
unit. They are the KX-TA82493
Caller ID Card, the KX-TA82461 4
Port, Door phone/Opener module, and
the KX-TA82491 DISA module. The
optional add-on modules and cards
are explained in detail below.
KX-TA82461 Door Phone/ Door Open
Card
The KX-TA82461 card allows you to
connect up to 4 door intercoms,
either a KX-T30865 or KX-T7775, or
any of the new video door phone
models (being released in June
2005) can be connected. It is also
equipped with 4 relay contacts that
can be connected to an electric
door strike mechanism or any low
voltage device that you would like
to control through a system
telephone. A maximum of one
KX-TA82461 can be installed in the
system.
KX-TA82491 DISA/Auto Attendant
Expansion Card
The main unit has built in DISA
(Direct Inward System Access) that
supports one audio channel and180
seconds of message recoding time.
The KX-TA82491 adds a second audio
Channel and an additional 180
seconds for a maximum total of 2
audio channels and 360 seconds. A
maximum of one card can be
installed in the system
KX-TA82492
Voice Message Card
The KX-TA82492 when installed
provides basic voice messaging
features to the system. The Voice
Messaging Card allows for 2 talk
paths for playing messages or
recording messages up to 60 minutes
total. A maximum of one KX-TA82492
can be installed in the system.
KX-TA82493 Caller ID Card
The KX-TA82493 is required to pass
Caller ID received from the
telephone company central office to
telephones connected to the system.
The system telephones must be a
compatible Panasonic proprietary
telephone with LCD display or a
caller ID compatible single line
device. One KX-TA82493 is included
with the control unit and
additional two cards can be
installed. The KX-TA82493 mounts
onto the KX-TA82483 (3 X 8
Expansion Card) and the KX-TA82481
(2 X 8 Expansion Card).
Voice Processing
The KX-TA824 has more voice
processing options than the
previous Panasonic Model KX-TA624.
The range of solutions can vary
from simple voice processing
solutions to very sophisticated
solutions allowing you to adapt the
system to your customer’s needs.
Voice Mail Options
The KX-TA824 has three voice mail
solutions to choose from.
Local Carrier
Based Voice Mail Compatibility
Simple
built-in Voice Messaging
Advanced Proprietary Integration
with the popular TVS Voice
Processing platforms or the New Panasonic
KX-TVA50 &
KX-TVA200 Voice Processing Systems
with email Integration,
Local Carrier
Based Voice Mail Compatibility
The KX-TA824 system is compatible
with the telephone company’s
central office voice mail service,
which provides message notification
and simplified access with central
office based voice mail systems.
Central office voice mail is very
popular in the residential market.
It is an alternative to installing
a complete voice mail system and
provides better service than an
answering machine. The system
operation with CO based Voice Mail
is as follows:
Once a customer subscribes to CO
based voice mail, the CO voice mail
system will answer calls
automatically after a predetermined
number of rings. This will occur
when the line is busy or when the
call is not answered. When the CO
based voicemail answers, the caller
will hear a recorded message that
will instruct them to leave a
message. After the outside caller
leaves a message, the voice mail
system will send a signal to the
KX-TA824 system. When the system
receives the signal the system
automatically activates the Message
light/Ringer Lamp to red, and the
corresponding CO Key button to a
moderate red flash on the Panasonic
KX-T7700 series proprietary
telephones (PT).
To listen to the message, the user
must press the CO key and the
MESSAGE button programmed with the
local access number. The system
will then call the CO voice mail
system and automatically enter the
user password (up to 32 digits can
be stored). Once the CO Voice mail
system has been called back the
KX-TA824 system will automatically
turn off the message lights.
Simple built-in Voice Messaging
For simple voice messaging the
KX-TA824 can be equipped with an
optional built in Voice Message
Card (KX-TA82492). The voice
messaging card has two audio
channels, 60 minutes of voice
storage with a maximum of 128
messages stored. There are two
voice message storage areas:
personal messages and common
messages. Personal messages are
private messages for each
extension. The personal message
area stores the following:
•
Personal outgoing messages (OGMs)
•
Voice messages left by callers for
extensions
Messages can be recorded, played,
and erased by each individual
extension.
The common message area stores the
following:
Personal OGMs for the operator or
manager
Voice
messages left by callers for the
operator or manager
Common OGMs for the
company
Voice messages left by callers for
the company
Messages in the common area can be
recorded, played, and erased by the
operator or manager only.
With the personal message feature,
callers can leave a voice message
in one of the voice message areas.
Information about the recorded
message is then automatically
logged in the Incoming Call Log of
the extension where it can be
viewed later or used to play the
original message.
When there are voice messages left
in the common voice message area,
the user will hear a special dial
tone indicating a message was
stored when the phone is off hook.
In addition, if that user's
telephone has a Caller ID
Indication—Personal/Common button,
MESSAGE button or Message/Ringer
Lamp, the corresponding button or
lamp will light. A MESSAGE button
can be used to listen to the
message after the user goes off
hook. By pressing the lit MESSAGE
button on a display proprietary
telephone (PT) while on-hook the
voice message information will be
displayed.
Advanced Proprietary Integration
with
Panasonic KX-TVS Voice Processing
Systems and the New
KX-TVA with E-Mail integration
For the customer who requires a
full featured voicemail system with
auto attendant and maybe even email
integration, the KX-TA824 has
Advanced Voice Mail Integration.
This integration provides an
advanced level of communication
between the KX-TA824 and Panasonic
KX-TVS or the new Panasonic
KX-TVA50 & KX-TVA200 Voice
Processing systems. With this level
of integration you receive all the
basic voice mail features plus
several advance features such as:
Caller ID Call
Routing
Caller ID Screening
Caller ID Name
Announce
Intercom Paging
Trunk Service
Automatic Login
Toll Saver
Live Call Screening
Two-way record
Two-way Transfer
Personal Greeting for Caller ID
Single-line Extension Caller ID
The KX-TA824 system can pass caller
ID name and number to caller ID
compatible single line telephones
or any other caller ID compatible
devices. Single-line caller ID is
supported on all 24 ports of the
system. The only card that is
required is the KX-TA82493 Caller
ID Card.
DISA (Direct
Inward System Access) with message
This feature allows outside callers
to access any extension without
having to go through an operator.
Callers can dial the desired
destination such as an extension or
Ring Group, or even outside lines.
Greeting messages can be recorded
by the operator or manager. One
message may be used in day mode and
the other in night mode, or they
can be used for different outside
(CO) lines.
When the system receives a fax
transmission signal by DISA, it
automatically connects the
specified fax extension (Automatic
Fax Transfer). Fax calls can be
received day or night without an
operator and there is no need for a
special fax phone line.
3
Level Auto Attendant using DISA
3-level Automated Attendant (AA)
service allows a caller to dial a
single-digit number following the
guidance of 3-level DISA* outgoing
messages, and be directed to the
appropriate department or person
without having to go through a live
operator.
Built in Modem Card
The KX-TA824 is also equipped with
a built-in modem card for remote
access. This allows the installer
to access the system remotely for
making programming changes and
eliminates the need to go to the
site saving both you and your
customer’s time and money.
On
Site Windows Based PC Programming
using built in RS232 or USB
The KX-TA824 can be programmed
using a proprietary telephone or a
PC equipped with the Panasonic
KX-TA824 Maintenance Console
programming tool shown below. The
maintenance console is Windows
based, making it very simple to use
and program the KX-TA824 product.
"Help" takes
you directly to the section
associated with current page.
Multiple windows can be opened at
the same time. To select a window
simply click on the tab. Simple to
use menus for fast access to the
area you wish to program.
Custom
Toolbars
makes
it simple to open, print, or save
databases.
Drop
Down Menus
make
it easy to select the desired
setting.
Each customer
specific database can be saved on
your PC. In the unlikely event that
one of your customer’s systems
fails, you can easily get them back
up and running by uploading their
saved database into a new system.
The programming tool also allows
you to program without being
connected to a live system simply
program the system and upload the
configuration information when you
are ready.
There are two
password protected levels for
access, Installer level and the
User level. This installer level is
for dealers allowing them to access
all the programming areas possible.
The installer level can also
determine the program areas that a
user level can access.

Press Release:
LAS VEGAS, NV (January 5, 2005)
--
Panasonic adds more strength to its
telecommunications lineup with the
KX-TA824 Advanced Hybrid System, a
totally new modular PBX system
designed for flexibility and
versatility, easily supporting a
user's needs for today - and more
importantly - for tomorrow.
"The KX-TA824 is a low-cost
solution for big telecommunications
needs that are now required by home
and small businesses to keep pace
with the competition," said Mark
Balsama, Panasonic, group manager,
Communication Systems.
The basic KX-TA824
is equipped with one internal
master board that supports three
outside lines and eight internal
lines (3X8 configuration). As needs
grow, up to two additional boards
can be plugged in above the first.
The system can be expanded for a
maximum system configuration of
eight outside lines and 24 internal
ones [8X24].
The KX-TA824 has a hybrid design
allowing users to connect either
Panasonic KX-T7700 series
proprietary telephones or single
line devices such as standard
telephones, fax machines or modems
to any station port in the system
without special hardware.
Out of the box, the basic KX-TA824
phone system provides a variety of
features for basic
telecommunications requirements,
such as Call Forward Busy and
Message Waiting, yet can be easily
updated and enhanced to keep pace
with a user's growing needs for
years to come.
Based on the design Panasonics very
successful KX-TA624 the KX-TA824
touts several significant
improvements such as three voice
mail options:
Interface with Central Office
(CO)-based Voicemail services
- Available from the local
telephone company, this service
stores the user's phone messages in
a voice mailbox that resides at the
phone company's central office.
Each outside line can be assigned
its own phone company-based voice
mailbox. When a voice mail message
is left in your phone company's
voicemail a message waiting light
is activated on internal phones for
an easy, integrated solution.
Optional plug-in, 2-port simple
messaging card (KX-TA82492)-
which provides up to a total of 60
minutes of recording time. This
affordable solution provides each
extension with their own personal
mailbox that can be customized with
outgoing messages to greet calls
prior to leaving a voice message.
When a message is left, the message
light on their Panasonic
proprietary telephone will be
activated and the message can
easily be replayed by pressing the
message button.
KX-TVS50
Voice Processing System:
If you require a fully featured
Voice Mail system with a built-in
auto attendant the KX-TA824 can be
connected to the Panasonic KX-TVS50
voice processing system utilizing
APITS integration.
Other Features:
DISA
now has a built-in three-level auto
attendant, providing callers with
more expansive menu making easer to
find the person or department they
wish to speak with.
In
addition to passing Caller ID
information (name and number) to a
Panasonic proprietary telephone,
the KX-TA824 can also pass Caller
ID to single-line telephones or fax
machines with the addition of a new
option Analog Caller ID card
(KX-TA82493).
Adding
features or increasing the system
capacity is easily accomplished by
adding plug-in circuit cards and
programming. Set up and maintenance
is also extremely easy with the
addition the system's built in
remote or on-site PC programming
capability. This also allows you to
save the systems site-specific
programming on your PC as a back
up.
Along with these major changes, the
KX-TA824 is capable of accepting
smaller, but no less significant
changes. In fact, the modular
concept of the KX-TA824 allows the
user to tailor the entire
telecommunications system to
specific needs of the business.
Other system features include:
Door
Phone, and Door Opener Card
- For true convenience, the new
system supports up to four door
lock controls and door phones. A
distinctive ring alerts all
telephone users that a visitor has
arrived at any of up to four
entrances. System users can then
speak to the guest and remotely
"buzz" them in via the telephone
keypad.
Toll
Restriction
-This feature lets you prohibit
certain outgoing calls by
restricting selected system
extensions from accessing specified
area codes or exchanges.
Room
Monitor
-
Allows you to
silently monitor a room from any
system phone in the house. The
room being monitored must contain a
proprietary system phone with a
built-in speakerphone paging.
Paging
- Allows you to make a voice
announcement simultaneously to all
proprietary phones in the system.
Rounding up the troops for work or
play has never been easier.
Conferencing
- Allows you to combine two calls
from two different lines together,
so you can talk to both parties at
the same time. |
