The Phone System Manager portion
of the KX-A281 software package allows modification
of Panasonic KX-TD system feature settings through
a specially designed set of forms.
When a program form is opened, such as the speed
dial number section, The Phone System Manager
software reads existing Panasonic telephone system
settings via a serial cable, and loads the form
with the existing program data for viewing or
modification.
Settings in the form can be modified, and loaded
from the form data back to the Panasonic phone
system.
Experience and training in some of the programming
areas is recommended. The commonly used settings,
such as extension numbers, extension names,
extension and system speed dial numbers and station
buttons are relatively easier to understand and
apply than some of the other system program
changes.
System information can be printed
and kept as a hard reference copy of settings
stored in the phone system. Printing system
information is done on a form-by-form basis.
To print the system information
in a form, click the Print button on the form. This
brings up a print dialog box that enables you to
set up the print job and print the data shown in
the list box.
The report can also be saved to a text file by
selecting the Print to File option. This is useful
when viewing system data with a spreadsheet or word
processing program. The data is saved in a
comma-separated format.
Backup &
Restore Feature
Phone Settings contain
information related to the programming of the phone
system and important system settings that may have
been initially customized for your particular
system. Phone System Manager allows back up these
settings to a file. This backup file can be used if
a restoration of the phone system program is
required due to system failure or damage.
Maintaining a backup program of the Panasonic KX-TD
system data when the Panasonic system settings have
been changed saves time and improves restoration
accuracy.
The restore operation normally takes several
minutes to transfer the Panasonic system settings
to the Phone System Manager program.
Admin
level was designed for the office manager and/or system
administrator to make changes to certain system
features which the user has been adequately trained to
operate. This includes programming Extensions Names, Speed Dials and
Absent Messages. Admin level users should be
trained by qualified
personnel before attempting program changes the
system. A password and user name are are required
for access to the Admin level of this section.
To create Admin users, the form to create a
list of Admin users must be opened by selecting
File/Login/User List. Enter the user name and password
for each user. Select the Allow Settings Change
column to give users permission to make changes to
the system feature settings.
Dealer
level
should be used by certified Panasonic technicians
and technically proficient end-users. It allows
users to perform Admin level programming, plus
other programming. Panasonic warns that users who
are not suitably trained may cause some "failures
with the Panasonic system operation."
